Pando|Chhattisgarh
The Pando tribe are one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and live in Chhattisgarh. They are forest-dwellers and believe themselves as the members of 'Pandav' clan of epic Mahabharata.
The Pando people represent one of the longest-preserved cultures amongst the indigenous peoples of India. However, this continuation of cultural preservation has also meant little representation in governmental bodies. As a result, while the Pando have had to face the destructive forces of modernity, they have been unable to employ modern processes to safeguard their interests.
Some of the Pando men and women are skilled archers and have been known to use their archery skills to keep out intruders.
In Korba district, some of the Pando villages that the Landing Together team interacted with are protesting against the coal mining companies, which threatens the soil, air and land of the forest.
