VÃNA VAASIYON (forest dwellers)
Vãna Vaasiyon is director's debut feature documentary film produced in July 2018.
This indie docu film tells a story about key environmental, social, cultural and legal issues related to extractive industries, traditional shifting cultivation vs. oil-palm plantations, women's rights to land and forests and communal forest rights in indigenous territories.
Film takes a bold approach of using voices of the otherwise voiceless people. It do not use easy approach of voice-over.

Vaña Vaasiyon
(forest dwellers)
The voices of the adivasis and indigenous peoples expressing their joy and pain and various other in-between emotions of being Vaña Vaasiyon (or forest dwellers) will actively engage you in this film.
Revealing unbiased stories by the forest dwellers, and importantly, without any voice overs.
Each story within this film takes up an issue close to nature-human interface in remote vulnerable tribal areas of India.
Vaña Vassiyon allows space for the protagonists to be 'who they are' and share their 'way of living' without making any judgements. Through the film, audience travels to diverse landscapes - from Banni Grasslands, one of Asia's largest grasslands, located in the Western India's arid desert area to Mizoram's tropical bamboo forest in the North-East India.
A multilingual film in 12 languages covers diverse indigenous communities, including pastoralists, shifting cultivators, palm-oil cultivators to gatherers and hunting communities. Opinions, personal viewpoints and ideas of the government officials, policy-makers and practitioners weave the stories of forest conservation vis-a-vis livelihoods.
The film without challenging the audience allows them to draw their own conclusions and how they like to interpret.
